Terms of use

Plain terms for a free site. Effective October 9, 2026.

General wellness only

whatsmypulse provides heart rate estimates and reference information for general wellness and fitness. It is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, prevent or monitor any disease or condition, and its results are estimates that can be wrong. Do not use it to make decisions about medical care, and do not delay or ignore professional advice because of something you read or measured here. If you think you may have a medical emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number.

Using the camera

The camera reader may switch on your phone’s flash, which can become warm during use. Stop if it feels uncomfortable. Measurements are only meaningful when you are still and resting the finger lightly on the lens.

The calculators and API

Formulas and reference tables come from the published sources cited on each page. They describe groups of people, not you individually. You may use the free API within its rate limit, provided you do not misrepresent its output as medical advice and you keep the disclaimer it returns alongside any figures you show to others.

No warranty

whatsmypulse comes as is, with no promise, express or implied, that it is accurate, available or fit for any particular purpose. As far as applicable law permits, we accept no liability for losses that follow from using the site or relying on what it says.

Acceptable use

Don’t try to disrupt the site, get around its rate limits or use it to break the law. We may block abusive traffic.

Revisions

These terms can be revised; the effective date at the top tells you which version applies. Questions go to hello@whatsmypulse.com.
